ONE BARD'S PENNED HEART

She-
This young one
Known as
Gabrielle
Conceals
Her thoughts
No more-
Her emotion
Bleeds through
The paper-
Inking passions
Of
A woman warrior
Known as
Xena-
She begins...
As deep as
It's color-
As soft as
It's pedals-
The Rose
Continues
To blossom-
To unfold-
To grow-
Like our love
Submerging
Itself
Into the sun's
Basking glow-
As if
You are
The Sun
Itself-
You become
My shelter
From
Brisk Spring Breeze
Trying
To curl
It's way
'Round
Delicate
And forbidden
Softness
Of
Velvety touch-
I am
The Rose-
You sheild
This young
Flower
So well-
And yet
You-
Yourself
conceal
Your heart's
Strong hold.
How can
This be?
Can You
Not see
How deep
The Rose
Reddens
With the
Slightest brush
Of
Your touch...
Yours
And only
Yours alone?
Such bold
Flirtation
Makes
Spring Breeze
Rage
With jealously-
For
Breeze knows
Only
Your touch
Makes
My fragile
Leaves
Tremble,
As the
Morning dew
Shimmers
With
Such reations
Of desire...
Oh brillant
Shy Sun-
So strong
With everlasting
Heat
That
Penatrates
This Flower's
Innocence-
This Flower's
Youth-
Can You
Not see
How deep
The Rose
Reddens
At the
Slightest brush
Of
Your touch?
Hear my
Pleading thoughts...
Warm me -
My radient
Sun-
My Secret Love
And make
This invisible embrace
In aching ...
In endless waiting...
A
Dream
No more.

NO HEROES

As the Eagle dies
The flag withers
Somehow
The colors blur-
The mask
Of
The sun falls-
As do
My tears-
No heroes
No heroes here-
My soul bleeds
As do
My physical wounds-
For
A nation
That
Has not
Yet
Begun
It's birth.

PERFECT 10

Perfect 10
He sang...
Picked from
The best-
Hair cut
Piss test-
Attitude to match
Yanky Doodle Dandy-
And you-
You cried
Like hungered
Wolves-
Stale eyes
Let God
Sort them
Out-
And you
You proud
Son of a
Bitch-
Sporting
Your green
Wearing
Black gun-
Pride
Cannot
Clothe
These
Bones of war-
And you
Are just
A number-
Yes...
Just a number.

NO ALTERS

I build
No alters
Or throw not stones-
What is my nature
Is mine
Alone-
I build
No alters
And Eve
Did not faulter-
Nor have I.
We both
Have seen
The Earth
And
kissed
The Sky-
And yet
We are shunned-
No alters here-
No alters.

WHITE FACES

White faces
Red eyes
I kiss her
As we
Walk
By
On the
Green
Green
Grass.

EYEBALLS

I pluck my eyeballs
Out of sockets
No blood-
Marrow-
Not a chip
Of bone,
Or muscle hung-
The colors
Now clear
And
I will not
Trip
Over stones-
Only
Push them
Aside to where
I can
Walk-
Never looking away
Again-
Oh, how I can see.

WILD HORSES

Age 19
Colleen Ferrigan
Soft rain
Sliding down
The windowsills
Of my mind-
And
When
I think
Of you-
As we were
Then-
Two
Wild Horses
Running through
The Ingleside
Meadows-
Adventureous-
Clinging
To youth
And
The wonders
Of life-
I felt
So free...
Soft rain
Soft skin-
Soft skin-
Never
Did I
Touch-
Except
To wipe
Your tears-
And
Hold you-
Until
His flight
Took off-
But, I
Enjoyed being
Your Shelter-
When he
Was
Your Storm-
I never
Told you-
No.
Age 19.
