Another Time, Another Place

In this life that's given me
there are words that can't be spoken
there's a silence that can't be broken.
And what you might have seen
is surely
another time and another place.

In this life that's given me
the heart's journey is made for one.
A path few would choose
and a world in which you lose.
And what you might have seen
is surely
another time and another place.

In this life that's given me
redemption plays a part,
a price that I alone can pay.
For the world in which I stand
is to many, a foreign land.
And what you might have seen
is surely
another time and another place.

In this life that's given me
I close my eyes to pray
for a vision of what might be.
And reaching deep within I find
the gift you've given me,
another time and another place.

Home

There's a restless stirring within my soul
a longing that just won't let me be
day and night constantly calling to me.
And so I seek the answer
somewhere within the promised land.
thta miracle of love
where the heart can be found and the soul can rest.

In the eyes of strangers
I think I've seen
something that would never last.
In the words of friends
I've felt the ghost of something past.
And so I wander on
sometimes counting the years
always afraid of voicing my fears.

I learned to keep it all within
hidden from a world that only sees
the strong and silent warrior
needing to set everyone else free.
And when freedom has been won
leaving as she has come.

Listening for the voice that calls to her
longing for the journey's end.
Knowing somewhere within
the answer surely comes.
For every heart and soul
there is a place to rest
a miracle of love
with which we all are blessed.

And now I take this chance
silently hoping, daring to belive
this warrior herself might be free
for you surely are to me
the home I'll always need.

One Moment

Of everything you've given me
the days we've shared
the nights we've dreamed,
the promise we both seek.
My heart will come back in time
and cherish the moment
when you saw into mine.

Into my life you came unbidden.
Offering something that in so many ways
seemed forbidden.
What did I know of the world you would bring.
Yet to you I only wanted to cling.
For so long I thought everyone could see.
Everytime my heart's devotion would appear,
only you were near.

And of everything you've given me.
I stop and count the cost,
of a treasure that so many have lost.
Listening for words,
that echo empty in the wind.
Reaching for the one,
holding destiny in her hands.
Living through the dreams
of heartache.
And all the while failing to see,
love begins and ends
with one wondrous moment in time.
When your heart sees into mine.

A Place To Meet

Is there a place where you and I can meet
a place where heart and hands can reach.
For I speak a language you can never hear,
you see a world I can never view.
What brought us here together
was something that we never knew
could bind heart and soul and mind.
Yet now I stand so far from you.
The distance beyond my meager grasp.
Days turned to darkness
that outlast the light of love we once knew.

To take a step toward you
is a risk I weigh with care.
For a part of me simply cannot bear
to lose this fragile freedom to which I cling.
But then I think of all the joy we shared
And I ask how we ever grew to be so far apart.
When did common ground
cease to be the holy ground on which we stand.

Have we forgotten what we once knew.
You were brought to me and I was brought to you.
The bond we forged always bridging distances
toward which we leaned.
Now sometimes it seems,
we stand and watch in silence,
gazing at some long seen enemy.
And so with hope and courage in hand,
I dare to ask,
Is there a place where you and I can meet.
A place where hearts and hands can reach.
A mystical place where words not be spoken,
eyes need not be opened,
love need not be denied.
Is there a place where you and I can meet?

Words You Say

With the slowly dying flames
my life began to ebb away.
Hopes and dreams never spoken
now would never be realized.
A cold and empty night sky
was all that met my eyes.
Seemingly, as far as I would ever see.

Your presence, once a part of me,
now pushed to the periphery.
Gathering my pain, my cloak of defense,
I step away from what had once been mine.
I sense you near, and tell myself
that you I can no longer hear.
Leaving you behind,
your words echoing in my mind.
They're just words you say,
but still I hear them forever and a day.

And now, in this deepening night
I contemplate the rising flames
of this solitary site.
Before my eyes do I see:
burning hatred and jealousy,
seething anger and revenge,
smoldering love and need.
I walked away from you,
your words echoing in my mind.
They were just words you say.
Still, I hear them forever and a day.
They're in my heart to stay.
Those words you say,
"I love you,"
are words I wish I could say this day.
