Fridge Poem

by Xena
{written entirely with poetry magnets}

I said I live
some black storm shadows me
like a rock
drives me
still
you
the sun
the sweet summer rain
the forest
beneath the moon
sleep
your love will rip through my dreams

Destiny Wore A Blue Shirt
by Xena

watching you scale fish
as the sun sets
golden in your hair
and the fire lights
your face from below
your hands covered in fish
your concentration
I remember
the first time I saw you

moments away from
a life time of slavery
you stood there, defiant
offering yourself to
save the rest, I thought,
that is a woman
and I fought them
(of course I fought them)
I remember you
slung over a soldier's shoulder
I threw a staff to free you
and watched as you hit him
knocking him down and
admiring your bravery
I became surrounded
and I fought them
and I saved you
again.

This Afternoon, When It Rained
by Gabrielle

the sky is white beyond the low hanging branches of this tree
so white I cannot see the rain against it
but I can hear the last drops hit the leaves
far, far above us

the smallest ray of sunlight
touches your sleeping face
neither this nor the bird song wakes you
your beauty is stronger than my will to think
so I remember

hours ago, when the rain began
we took shelter here
under this tree which proved to be a different world

my skin was warm
and wet from the rain
your strong hands on my arms seemed right
your lips on my neck were fire
I looked into your eyes and saw
everything

say yes, you whispered
tiny droplets of water
your breath hot against my ear
your lips were...your lips...
yes, I whispered
please yes

Naked in my arms for the first time
your skin, the rain, my heart
never has a woman been so beautiful
as you, Xena
making love to me, here,
this afternoon
when it rained.

Romantic Drivel
by Gabrielle

deep into the night
we'd sit below a field of sparkling black
the moon lighting my scrolls
and I'd read to you
your profile against the sky
I longed to let my gaze wash over you
and lately I must admit that
as I write, I memorize my words:
my eyes are wasted on a scroll when you are near
so I recite slowly from memory
and stare at you for hours

Two Limericks About Xena and Gabrielle

In a natural hot spring in Thrace
Sat two women caught in an embrace
Their passion ran hot
'till the water was not
And they both were quite flushed in the face.

The former Destroyer of Nations
Was not too fond of taking vacations
But her lover was young
With a talented tongue
And convinced her with her ministrations!

Another Magnificent Moment of Clarity

by Gabrielle

you are the backdrop
against which
my life is played out

like a huge piece of black felt
enveloping everything,
you are

I glow brightly, highlit by your darkness
my mistakes, my foolishness, my every move:
against you, I am practically transparent

and so, the others see
you.
I see everything but
