It Should Have Been Me

I sit here among the other guests
And I pretend to be happy
You're standing at the altar, smiling
The wedding march begins to play
And she enters looking beautiful
Radiant in her wedding gown
Truly a vision of loveliness
And I watch you as you watch her
The love in your eyes is plain to see
And my heart breaks a little more
She reaches you, and you take her hand
And as you pledge your love to her
All of my hopes and dreams are shattered
I just never found the courage
To tell you how very much I care
And as you walk down the aisle; wed
And you begin your life together
My soul screams, "It should have been me!"
