Cross-Generational Muses,

Working at Last

(For Dr. Rachael Jones and Miss Ellie)

Late night songsters, singing each other awake,
two guitar players, differing styles
both a turn to take, back and forth,
sharing.
Functional harmony.
Beer, smokes and a lotta wine;
irrigation for the muse.
Good company, tired friends
talk and listen and sing the blues
deep into the morning.
Vibrant sound, driving;
angst-ful, youthful, rare.
Old folk tunes, mellow; still significant.
New refrains crossing a generation;
two teachers mutually learning -
(young pup shows new tricks;
Amazon Elder shares her stuff.)
Music to the ears,
food for the soul.
