Angela's head jerked up at the sound of the door opening. Her heart thumped in her chest as she made her w ay to the door to meet the newcomer. Her sex practically wept when she rounded the corner and caught sight of her guest. Tall, blonde and gorgeous. Not to mention extremely powerful.

“I thought you weren't coming anymore,” she purred as she stepped into the blonde's personal space and took those beautifully sculpted lips in a voracious kiss. Her knees buckled slightly when she felt the blonde's tongue push into her mouth. They finally pulled away and began to undress each other frantically. Naked, her hands moved over the blonde's strong back to her butt. She grabbed the cheeks in both her hands and squeezed hard even as her own heart constricted simultaneously. This…all of this… was so achingly familiar and yet so new every time when they were together like this .

“There was a fender bender on my way over here,” the blonde murmured, her tongue slipping out to touch her upper lip. The action drew Angela's eyes and her insides shifted slightly as a flash of raw hunger cuts a burning path from her stomach to the moist sanctuary between her legs.

“You're here now and that's all that matters,” she whispered as she leaned closer to the beautiful woman.

Their lips met in another breath-taking kiss before the blonde slowly slid down until she rested on her knees. Angela gasped when she felt something soft bumping against her clit.

“You smell absolutely divine. I need to taste you now.”

Pushing her hand through the short greying blonde mane, Angela lifted her leg over the strong shoulder. “Have at it.”

She blew out a shaky breath at the first delicate touch of her lover's tongue on her swollen clit. Throwing her head back, she allowed the tears, which were threatening since the blonde entered the hotel suite, to roll freely.

It's been two years now and every time she cried when this woman touched her.

******************************

Leaning both hands against the wall, Jo lifted her head to allow the lukewarm spray to rinse her face. She was running terribly late and even after all this time of skulking around; she still couldn't find it in her to lie to her children. That's why she tried not to be late or to miss an appointment with them. Heaven forbid they found out about this. She shuddered. There was simply no way she knew how to explain this to them.

A breeze touched her back and throwing a quick glance over her shoulder, she saw Angela stepping into the shower. The redhead immediately pressed up against her back and Jo groaned softly.

“We don't have time for this,” she said softly despite the fact of her breath quickening as she felt Angela's hand slip around her, bringing the redhead's naked body flush against hers. She could feel the hard touch of Angela's nipples as they dug into her back and felt a rush of wetness collecting between her legs. After all this time she still couldn't get enough of this woman. The more she had of her the more she craved her. Of late their lovemaking had taken on a kind of urgency. Jo wanted to conquer her need for this woman's touch and has become more demanding in the process. She uses every means possible to get the most out of Angela's body. Toys, positions, role play…everything and anything to try and break this woman's hold over her.

All, because they can't be together.

They're not supposed to be together like this.

With that thought, reality rudely set in and she pulled away from Angela. “I need to go. The twins are waiting for me at home.” Not looking back, she slipped out of the shower and reached for a towel. As she dressed and let herself out of the hotel suite she was unaware of the woman crumpled in the shower, crying silently.

*********************************

Two days later…

A loud knock sounded on the door. “You're due in make-up in 30 minutes, Ms. Steele.”

Angela groaned as she took another sip from her coffee. She walked over to the door and swung it open. She grinned at the freckle-faced man. “Copy that, Mervin.”

He blushed furiously at that and rushed off. With a couple more minutes to kill, she closed the door behind her and switched on the TV before she grabbed her script. She sighed when she scanned over the call sheet. This was the last thing she wanted to do today. Playing the role of a tough no-nonsense female detective in a popular TV series, had been a wonderful challenge for her and she'd jumped at the chance to make the transition from movies to television. It not only offered a steady pay check, but it also meant that she was based in Washington for the duration of the show. Everything and everyone that meant something to her was here.

But there were days like today when she has to act out a love scene and it was the last thing she wanted to do. Not so soon after what had happened between her and Jo. It was going to be hell to allow anyone so close while her body still craved Jo's touch and her heart still ached from the emotional desertion. But she'll do it and she'll make the best of it, she thought as her face pulled into a grimace. Lucky for her, her love interest on the show was a very good friend and he always made these scenes as painless as possible.

She threw the script on the table and reached for her cooling coffee just as her cell rang.

“Hello.”

“Ange, do you have the TV on?” She immediately recognized the voice of Julie Merchant, her publicist.

She glanced at the TV. It was on some wild life channel. She loved having background noise when she went through her script. “Yes. Why?”

“There something you have to see. Go to StarStruck.”

Angela did as she was told. There was a shot of a well-known luxury hotel. For a moment she didn't know what she was looking at until she heard the tongue-in-the-cheek narration of the reporter.

“Spotted leaving the luxurious Grand Astrum hotel on Wednesday afternoon was none other than esteemed Federal Court Judge Josephine Biermann. For those who of you who've been living under rock for the past decade, this is the woman who makes powerful trail attorney and even some of her peers shake in their boots with a mere glance. The legal dynamo was seen leaving or rather….”

Angela gasped as she watched footage of Jo leaving the hotel where, only two days ago, they had met for their monthly trysts. With her heart thudding in her chest, she tuned back into the report.

“… is super rich and can afford to dine at this über-luxurious establishment. Clearly there wouldn't be anything wrong with the picture, but that was until a reliable source at the hotel informed StarStruck that Judge Jo, who is openly lesbian and the divorced mother of twins, had spent a few hours locked up in a private suite with this, as yet, unidentified woman.”

Groaning loudly, Angela watched footage of herself, of course heavily disguised, leaving through the backdoor of the hotel. How the hell did they know to wait for her at the back entrance?

“Ange…Ange, you still there?”

Swallowing to wet her suddenly dry mouth, Angela spoke. “This is one hell of a mess.”

“What do you want me to do?”

Angela cleared her throat. “They don't know it's me. If you get involved now, it might just make it worse. I'll handle this. Let me talk to her first.”

“Okay. Call me if you need anything, ok.”

“Ok.” She hung up and sunk into a nearby chair. Jo would be devastated by this. And the twins? Sweet heavens, how are they going to take this?

**************************

The door swung open and Jo pursed her lips as she looked at her visitor. Without a word, she stepped back and allowed Angela to enter. She watched as a black limousine pulled away as soon as she'd opened the door for Angela. At least Angela was wise to have come over using a discreet car service and chose the back entrance to the mansion.

“I tried calling you but I only got your voicemail,” Angela said warily as she looked at Jo.

Jo shrugged. “I had to switch off my phone for obvious reasons.” Angela stepped closer, but Jo held up her hand. “The twins are upstairs.” She led the way to the living room and went straight for the bar. She poured them both a whiskey. “Not that I don't appreciate it, but why are you here.” She took a sip from her drink as she studied Angela over the rim of her glass. “You were in no way implicated in this…this…thing.”

Angela drained her glass in one breath. “I didn't want you to face the twins alone.”

Jo frowned. “I can handle them,” she said coolly.

“I know,” Angela quickly assured her. “But you don't have to do this alone.”

“You do know that your being here could raise a lot of questions,” Jo said before she drained her glass. “Questions to which I have no answers. The twins already read about it on some gossip blog and they've been hiding in their rooms ever since. I've asked them to join me down here so we could talk.”

As if on cue, footsteps on the stairs, made them both stiffen and Jo quickly poured herself another drink. This was the one thing she never wanted to discuss with her children. With teenagers in the house, she had tried to keep her sex life very private. Now the whole world knew that she was indeed sexuality active and that she was having sex in hotel rooms with strange women. The footsteps drew closer and she steeled herself for what was to come.

“Mom!!!”

The twins rushed into the room and enthusiatically engulfed Angela in bear hugs. Sipping her drink, Jo watched as her sixteen year old son and daughter basked in Angela's attention. It was strange that how one minute they could be these semi-grownups and the next they are just silly teenagers who crave their mother's attention. For the moment she was in the doghouse, so her attention was the least they sought out now. This was going to be one hell of an evening.

“What're you doing here? I was hoping to surprise you with lunch on set tomorrow,” Indiana said as she studied Angela.

Angela smiled, her features soft with affection as she cupped Indiana's cheek. “You could still surprise me tomorrow, if you want. I'm an actress, remember. To fake a surprise is child's play for me.”

Standing to the side, Jo quietly watched as the two most beautiful women she had ever seen interacted. She felt her son's eyes on her, but not ready to spoil the mood, she ignored his searching look. Realizing that she was avoiding eye contact, Ian turned his attention back to Angela. He pulled Angela into a hug and planted a smacking kiss on a giggling Angela's cheek.

“Hey, you big oaf,” Angela said as she playfully slapped Ian's stomach. “Are we still on for that movie premier next week?”

Ian shrugged. “I would love to be your date, mom.”

“Thank you, honey.”

Just as quickly the mood changed and two sets of hazel eyes, so like Angela's, skewered Jo. She cleared her throat. It was strange how she could rule her courtroom with a mere raise of an eyebrow, but she felt so small and flustered under the combined weight of her children's scrutiny.

“Could you all please take a seat so we could talk about this,” she requested softly. When the twins seemed to hesitate, she cocked her head at them. No matter what happened, she was still their mother. They reluctantly walked over the sofa. When they were both seated, they looked at Angela. Angela smiled at them. Maybe having Angela here was not such a bad idea after all.

“I think I'll stand,” Angela responded to the silent question and came to stand next to Jo. Jo didn't miss the gesture of showing a united front in the face of this storm. If only things were different between them. She quickly pushed the though to the back of her mind.

“What happened is really unfortunate and I never wanted you guys to…”

“Who is she, mama?” Ian cut in. His face was unreadable and his jaw jutted out in defiance. Jo inhaled deeply as she studied her son. She hated being interrupted like that and Ian knew that. Had it been under different circumstances, she wouldn't have let him get away with that. But she was at fault here and just this once she would cut him some slack.

“No need to be rude, Ian. Let me finish and then I'll give you the chance to ask as many questions as you like.” She looked at Indiana and saw the same look of defiance on her face. “Who the woman is, is of no importance right now. All I want you to know is that I'm so sorry that you had to find out about this from the media. I had hoped that one day I could sit you down and we could discuss this.”

The room was quiet as she waited for a response. When it came it wasn't what she she'd expected.

“Do you love her?”

*************************

Angela's stomach clenched at hearing the soft inquiry and she threw a quick glance at Jo. This conversation was not going the way she'd envisioned it to go. Yet, she couldn't help but waiting breathlessly for Jo's answer. Jo stood motionless as she stared at Indiana, her face unreadable.

“That is not important right now,” Jo said calmly. “What I want you to know is that I will deal with this as quickly as possible so we can get our lives back on track.”

Angela wanted to cry, but she kept her face blank even as her heart broke in tiny little pieces. She read the disappointment and frustration on their children's faces. What happened next, took even her by complete surprise.

Indiana surged to her feet. “So it's true then. You're just like all these politicians who have sex with escorts in hotel rooms. Did it ever occur to you what it could do to us or even to mom?” Tears were running down the girl's cheeks. “At least mom's been discreet because she knew that if something like this were to happen it could affect you and your career.”

Shocked, Angela stepped closer to calm her daughter, but Indiana held up her hands.

“No, mom. This is not fair,” Indiana yelled as more tears began to fall. “Mama threw everything away for a quick romp with a prostitute.”

“SHE IS NOT A PROSTITUTE!”

The room fell silent at Jo's uncharacteristic outburst. Even Indiana looked at her mother in astonishment. But the surprise didn't last long.

“Then you must love her if you are willing to sacrifice everything for her,” the girl said in a shaking voice. “You are feeding us all this bullshit so you could protect this…this woman.”

“Language!” Angela snapped at Indiana. She glanced at Jo and found the other woman staring at their daughter with a haunted look on her pale face. She turned back to the twins. “You will not speak to your mother in that tone. She doesn't deserve it.”

After few tense moments of staring at each other, Indiana sunk back on the sofa. Angela took a deep breath and chanced another look at Jo. If ever she loved that woman before, she loved her more at that moment for taking this kind of abuse to protect her. When they embarked on their affair two years ago, they had both agreed very early on that Ian and Indiana would not be drawn into this. Although their divorce concluded amicably, nine months before their liaison, the impact it had on the twins was devastating. Ian had withdrawn completely and became moodier whereas Indiana became prone to outbursts of anger. It had taken the twins a very long time to process the separation. Shared custody and ‘family' get-togethers had helped the twins to realize that even living apart, both their mothers were there for them. Knowledge of an affair between the two of them could wreck the fragile stability they had worked so hard to establish. And now here they were, facing this mammoth task of protecting their children against a decision that, she herself had taken against the better judgement of her much older, much wiser ex-wife. This was all her fault. Jo had been reluctant to continue their liaison because of the twins, but Angela having realized her mistake in divorcing the only woman she would ever love, wanted…no…hoped to re-establish a link with Jo, albeit a physical one at first.

Tears burned behind her eyes as she looked at a pale, trembling Jo. She loved this woman more than anything in the world and she would NOT stand by and let her take the blame for something she had tried so hard to avoid.

Just as she was about to say something, Ian spoke. “You're right, mom. Mama doesn't deserve this.” He turned his gaze on Jo. “We're sorry, mama.” He looked to his sister. “But I agree with Indiana. How can we move past this if we don't have enough information to come to an informed decision? What we want to know is whether or not we need to prepare ourselves to accept another woman into our lives.”

This time Jo looked at Angela, and the helplessness she saw in her usually confident lover's eyes, helped her to make up her mind.

“No, you don't have to,” she said quickly before she lost her nerve.

Both Ian and Indiana looked at her with identical frowns. “What does that mean?” Indiana, now calm after her outburst, asked carefully.

Angela met Jo's wide-eyed stare. “The woman your mother is seeing …it's me.”

***************************

Jo has never been more scared in her life as she intently studied her children. They both sat there, slack jawed, their eyes moving between her and Angela. She felt Angela's hand gripping her and desperately clutched it in hers. After a very long moment of silence, Ian spoke.

“Are the two of you having an affair?” He blushed as he asked the question and had the situation not been so dire, Jo wouldn't have let the chance to rib him a little pass. Instead she nodded her head quickly as she tightened her hold on Angela's hand.

“For…for how long has this…it …you know?” Ian stumbled over his words.

“A little over two years now,” she said softly. At Ian's perplexed look she continued. “We met at a function in San Diego and it just happened.”

“But you haven't even been divorced a year before you started seeing each other,” Indiana said incredulously. “Why the divorce then?”

Jo turned to look at Angela. “I don't know how to answer that.”

Angela cleared her throat softly. “I do.”

Jo blinked at Angela. “You do?”

Angela smiled and Jo's breath caught in her chest at the look in the hazel eyes. “Almost immediately after I asked for a divorce, I realized I've made a huge mistake.”

Jo swallowed at hearing that. “Angela?”

“I didn't know how to fix it and I thought that if after a few months had gone by I could talk to you…beg you to give me another chance.” The hazel eyes swam in tears. “I struggled to cope without you, because every moment away from you almost made me mad with missing you. Coming here to pick up Ian and Indiana and seeing you, but not being able to touch you. It…” A sob escaped her lips, “…it was pure torture.”

“I…I…” Jo was at a loss for words. Could she be drunk and hallucinating? She only had three drinks which is way too little to have had any effect on her. “Angela…” she began lamely.

“No, please,” Angela begged softly as she brought their clasped hands to her lips. “I knew you were going to be in San Diego that weekend for that conference and I arranged for us to bump into each other.” Angela swallowed hard as more tears spilled from her eyes. “I wanted you back in my life by any means possible, so I set out to seduce you.”

That night almost two years ago flashed before Jo's eyes. She was at the hotel bar in deep conversation with Judge Pierce Montgomery, when there was a sudden shift in the air. Turning to the door, she was stunned to find Angela had entered the bar. She looked absolutely breath-taking in a gorgeous red wrap around dress which caused a mini cloudburst in her pants. She had stared shameless as Angela was quickly surrounded by admirers. Their eyes had met and held over the heads of all those people clamouring for her attention. Angela had excused herself and came over to greet her. Jo bought her a drink and one drink led to another. When it was time for Angela to turn in, she had asked Jo to her room for a night cap. The door had barely closed behind them before they were in each other arms. Flashes of a naked, out of control Angela straddling her face as the redhead grunted while she rode herself to shattering climax, flooded Jo's memories and she blushed wildly.

“You said you were there on very important business?”

“You were it,” Angela said without hesitation. “I needed to feel your arms around me again.”

Warmed by the passionate words, Jo could only stare for a moment. “You never said or shown anything in the past two years.”

Angela's lower lip trembled slightly. “I've been living for the days I would meet up with you and yearned for you on the days I didn't see you. I love you, Jo. I love you so much.”

Jo heard the words, knew they were true, but still hesitated. “But you said you wanted something different,” her voice broke. “You said you couldn't be yourself with me anymore.”

She remembered the day like it was yesterday. She had just come home, after a particularly difficult day at the office and all she wanted was to have a drink, shower and since the twins were at a camp for the weekend, make mad passionate love to her beautiful young wife. Instead she found a pale looking Angela in the living room. The packed suitcases and the tense look on Angela's face clued her in immediately. Her calm question as to why Angela was leaving got a painfully vague response. I need something different, something more. I can't find myself with you anymore. Heartbroken and too tired to fight, she had simply nodded and looked on as Angela took off her wedding band and put it on the table. At the time, she had told herself that she had expected the day would come when Angela would tire of her. After eighteen years together, of which sixteen were spent in what Jo had thought was wedded bliss, they had lasted much longer than she'd expected. Angela was only twenty–two to her thirty-three when they'd met through a mutual friend at the Lawyer of the Year banquet, where Jo collected the coveted award for the third time in a row. The attraction was immediate and that night she felt like she'd taken the biggest and most desirable prize home with her. Soon Angela's acting career took off, Jo had become the youngest ever female Federal Judge, the twins were born and they began to settle in their roles as professionals, spouses and parents.

Many things took second place to that. Things like family meals, holidays and sex. But still Jo had thought them lucky and in love, until that fateful Friday evening, three years ago. Now here she was in the same room on a Friday evening, three years later, contemplating whether she should put her barely-healed heart on the spell again.

She took a step away from Angela, but Angela quickly closed the distance between them.

“I made a mistake, my love. A big, big mistake and I doubt I'll ever be able to forgive myself for the pain I've caused with my emotional and thoughtless words. Instead of talking to you about the strain I was under, I let go of the only support and beacon I had in such a stormy time.” Her eyes were begging with Jo. “Give me another chance, Jo, and I swear to you that you'll never regret it. I'll show you every day for as long as we both live how much I love and cherish you.” She took Jo's hand. “I would rather die first than hurt you again.”

Jo felt the tight invisible band, which had clasped around her heart, on that day Angela had left, loosen slightly.

“I believe you, but…” she began.

Angela quickly stepped even closer, her face lifted so she could look into Jo's eyes. “Shush, my love, don't doom it before it has begun.” Jo felt Angela's hand slip behind her head and she was pulled into a warm kiss. She moaned softly. Angela's kisses were always divine and she wouldn't mind indulging a few more, but maybe not while they had an audience. She slowly pulled away and saw the panic in Angela's eyes.

“Ian and Indiana,” she said quickly to reassure Angela.

*************************

Angela blushed as she turned to face her flustered children. She had been so engrossed in their mother that she completely forgot that they were still there. Not ready to break contact with Jo yet, she kept her arm around the blonde's waist.

“I'm sorry you had to witness that, guys. Your mother still has a way of making the world disappear around me at times,” she said and stole a look at her blushing lover.

“Does…does this mean that you guys are back together?” Indiana asked with a hopeful light in her eyes.

Angela looked first at Jo, studying the beautiful face, before she turned to Indiana. “I've hurt you all so much when I left, but I'm glad that we've managed to talk about this. I would suggest that I be put on a six month long probation period. During that time, I will try my utmost best to win back your trust…” She looked at Jo. The blue eyes were serene, but difficult to read. “…all of your trust. I caused this mess and it's my responsibility to fix it. This will also give me time to woo your mother again. That's if she would give me another chance. However, whatever happens, I'll be taking my cue from your mother.” She tightened her arm around the slender waist. “She will set the pace and I'll respect every decision she makes until she trusts me again to take part in the decision-making process.” She looked at Jo. “Is that fine by you, my love?”

A small smile tugged at Jo's lips. “It's not really necessary for a probation period. We'll get over this.”

“But I want to do it, Jo.” She swallowed hard as she still saw the shadows in the blue eyes. “I need to do this.”

“Okay. I will not stand in your way.” Their eyes held for a moment before Jo looked away.

“Mom. Mama. There's one more thing I need to ask,” Ian said as he stepped closer. “Why didn't you tell us about the two of you?”

Angela grinned at Jo. “You wanna answer this one since I did the other one?”

“Well, it seems I was the only one who wasn't aware of where our…uh…liaison was going, but the honest answer is because we didn't know how you would take it. Considering how difficult the divorce was for you, we didn't want to give you guys any false hope. We had to protect you both at all cost from any pain our situation could cause you.”

Indiana came over to stand before Jo. “I'm sorry for all the nasty things I've said to you.” Jo opened her arms and the girl almost fell into them. “I think it's very romantic that you two were having an affair even though you were divorced.”

“I know, hey,” Jo teased. “Unfortunately, you also got yourself grounded for a month. I kinda find that extremely romantic thinking of you not leaving the house for the next four weeks unless you have to go to school and extramural activities.”

Angela chuckled as Indiana rolled her eyes, but accepting her punishment gracefully. Ian was the next to give Jo a hug.

“It's probably too early to say so, because you still need to do a lot of talking amongst yourselves, but I'm happy for you both. You are good parents and you belong together.”

“Yeah,” Indiana cut in. “You were so good together that it was impossible to believe that you two couldn't love it each other anymore. We've been…” She turned to her brother. “What's that term Ms Henderson used in English class last week?”

Ian seemed to rake his mind for a moment, before he spoke up. “Cautiously optimistic, I believe.”

“Yes, that's it,” Indiana gushed while both Angela and Jo gaped at her. “As I was saying, we've been cautiously optimistic that the two of you would eventually find each other again. Which you did now, by the way, and we're very happy for you.”

Angela threw her arms wide as she gathered both her children in for a group hug. “Thank you, my babies.”

Ian and Indiana bid them goodnight and for the first time after the emotional storm they had to brave, they were alone. Suddenly shy under the intense scrutiny of Jo, she shrugged.

“I'll probably have to go now. I'll just call a cab.”

Jo glanced at her wristwatch. “It's almost midnight. Why don't you just sleep over? You can choose any of the guest rooms, if you like.” The last was said carefully as Jo's sharp eyes roamed over her face.

“It sounds like a plan.” Angela cleared her throat. When she spoke again, she couldn't keep the insecurity out of her voice. “You haven't said much tonight and I can't help but feel as if we've … I've been forcing you into agreeing with all this.” Her heart sank when instead of answering, Jo walked over to the decanter to fix herself another drink. “Jo…?”

The blonde downed the drink and slowly turned to face her. “It went much better than I thought it would. It's a relief to have everything out in the open.”

Angela swallowed hard. “And us?”

Jo smiled. “We're okay, I guess. Unless of course, you're having second thoughts.”

Aching to touch Jo, Angela stopped herself just in time before she made her way over to where Jo stood. “You'll never have to worry about that. I will never ever, for as long as I live, change my mind about you.”

There was a slight gleam of moisture in Jo's eyes as she nodded. “That's really good to hear. Come. Let me show you where you're going to sleep.”

Angela took the hand held out to her and clutched it tightly. The house was quiet as they made their way up the stairs and stopped in front of the main bedroom door. Angela's heart was beating so loud, she almost missed what Jo was saying.

“I'll show you the main bedroom first and if you don't like it, I'll show you the guestrooms. That okay?”

Angela didn't answer immediately. Instead she just looked at the woman, taking in the slightly ruffled greying blond hair, those penetrating blue eyes, the sinfully sexy cleft chin… There was no way she was going to give this woman a whole night alone to possibly change her mind about them.

“I think the main bedroom would do…forever.”

Jo smiled broadly as she pushed the door open and pulled Angela behind her. The door closed quietly behind her.

*************************

Further down the hallway, two doors opened simultaneously. Ian walked over to lean against the wall next to Indiana's bedroom door, his usually sombre face sporting a huge grin.

“So?”

Indiana rolled her eyes at him. “Brag much.”

“Just say it.”

“Ok. I'll admit I didn't think you're plan would work.” She looked at the closed main bedroom door. “Should we tell them?”

Ian frowned. “What? That we had them followed and tipped off that StarStruck reporter?” He shook his head. “Nah. They wouldn't believe us, especially not after that striking performance you pulled off tonight.”

Indiana grinned. “It was, wasn't it? Sadly, instead of getting an Oscar, I got grounded.”

“It was for a worthy cause, sis.” He bumped her shoulder and walked over to his room. Just as he was about to close the door, there was loud thump coming from the main bedroom followed by a muffled moan.

“Eeeuwww!” They said simultaneously and hastily sought out the privacy of their rooms.
