The Raging Battle Within

Hope - that tenuous concept

that perhaps that which is feared

will not come to pass, or that

so desired will somehow appear.

Anger so close - aching to be free.

As the rage of a lifetime ignites -

taking control shaking - canąt breath,

and a primal scream pierces the night.

When is justice to be served?

In this lifetime think not.

So many battles waged.

So many lost though well fought.

Survivor born out of necessity.

Defeated and broken in the end -

except for the rage and anger.

They become the friend.

Without the anger - without the rage

only a vast emptiness appears,

and within the emptiness lies defeat.

And with the defeat comes fear.

Hope - that tenuous concept

that perhaps that which is feared

will not come to pass, or that

the cycle wonąt repeat year after year.

Survival its own steady course -

an unconscious mechanism to cope.

And as the rage dispels

emerges that tenuous concept Hope.
