PART 11
Chapter 18
The thick sexually-charged atmosphere in the room was broken by
a husky drawn-out gasp and then the rapid slapping of skin on skin.
Glazy tawny eyes stared into scorching ever-greens.
"Yessss…… just like that, baby. Just
like….that!"
A deep growl sounded in the room followed by a high pitched
scream.
"Ah, honey…That was spectacular."
Lifting her weight onto strong arms, Trinity gently withdrew
from Gabriella's body and rolled over onto her back. She felt
Gabriella's hands working at the leather fastenings at her hips and
removed the toy. With a deep sigh she welcomed Gabriella's sweaty
body back in her arms.
"You are a great inspiration, my angel," Trinity whispered into
Gabriella's hair.
"Good answer, honey."
There was a short silence.
"What are you thinking about?"
Trinity lifted her head and stared into the amber eyes.
"I'm thinking about us."
"What about us, my love."
Brushing a kiss against the soft lips, Gabriella closed her
eyes. "Just how lucky we are that we are together and that we love
each other."
The green eyes carefully traced the beautiful face trying to
determine her lover's mood and the direction of the
conversation.
"Yes, we are."
Amber eyes opened and locked with jade ones. "Seeing Jess and
Rissa together tonight, it struck me how precious our love is." A
soft hand cup the cheek of the vampire. "What if things go wrong
with Mary and they never get the chance to experience what we
have?"
The green eyes softened.
"Your mother will not allow anything to happen to either of them
or any of us for that matter."
She brushed the sweaty bangs out of Gabriella's eyes. "Is that
really all that bothers you?"
Gabriella's eyes darkened.
"Not really."
"Then talk to, me baby. Maybe I can help."
The therapist sighed deeply and pressed her ear against her
lover's thudding heart. How will she go on if this beautiful heart
stops beating one day? She was scared of a lot of things, but
losing Trinity terrified her.
"I just want you to be safe that's all."
Trinity moaned softly as she held Gabriella tightly against her
chest.
"I don't plan on dying now that I've found you, Gaby. Believe me
when I say that I'm very careful all the time."
"Good," came the muffled reply. "I will hold you to that."
*********************************
Jessica stirred when she felt Clarissa gently extracting herself
from her arms. When the grey eyes fluttered open, she was stunned
by the adoring look in the brown eyes as they caressed her
face.
"It's time for me to go … do what vampires
do."
Jessica nodded; her expression solemn. "You have to go feed?"
Clarissa nodded as she zipped up her jacket.
"I will not be long though."
Jessica sat up, her eyes burning into Clarissa's. "Why don't
you…"
Clarissa shook her head vehemently.
"NO!"
Jessica slowly crept over the wide expanse of the bed until she
was kneeling in front of where Clarissa stood next to the bed.The
brown eyes were cool as they looked at her.
"What is the difference, Clarissa, taking blood from a random
stranger and taking blood from me?"
The vampire's eyes were flooded with a variety of emotions, the
most discernable, guilt.
"I love you, but that doesn't mean that you will have to sate my
cursed hunger too." Her voice sounded distracted, as if she was
trying to distance herself from the discussion. They looked at each
other in silence until Clarissa looked away.
"That's where you are wrong." The sienna eyes turned back to
her. "Because I love you I have to take care of you and
you of me. Offering you my blood should not simply be seen as an
act of sating your hunger, but as an act of love. By the way, I
hate the idea of you nuzzling strangers' necks."
Clarissa was staring at her with wide eyes and Jessica was
pleasantly surprised when the normally somber vampire unexpectedly
burst out laughing.
"You have no idea how unpleasant it is to suck on someone's neck
while the overpowering smell of perfume threatens to knock you
out." She reached out and ran her knuckles over Jessica's cheek.
"You are simply amazing. I am so lucky to own your
heart."
Jessica smiled. "Think about it. For today I will let you get
away with it, but next time…"
"Thank you, darling. I will consider your offer, but we still
need to discuss it more."
The grey eyes sparkled. "What's there to talk about? You bite
and suck and I maintain my ideal weight."
Clarissa's jaw dropped and Jessica doubled over with laughter.
Clarissa shook her head and sat on the bed nextto the guffawing
Jessica. It took a while before Jessica calmed down; moist eyes
looked up at the faintly amused gaze of Clarissa.
"We will have to work on your sense of humor,
dear."
Clarissa chuckled softly. "I don't know if I will be using it a
lot, but you can try."
Jessica grinned and climbed onto the vampire's lap, her eyes
staring deep into the gentle ones.
"Kiss me and go do your thing." As an afterthought she added,
"No women though."
Meekly Clarissa nodded and did as she was told.
By the time Clarissa left the room, Jessica was lying on her
back, her eyes closed and her mouth opened in a gasp. Her body was
still numb from the breathtaking kiss. She slowly opened her eyes
and blinked rapidly. Wow, what a kiss. She turned over on her
stomach and buried her face in the plush pillow Clarissa had used.
Her thoughts immediately going back to the discussion they'd had
earlier.
It was agonizing for her to listen as Clarissa talked about her
life in captivity. The brown eyes were dark with pain as she told
her about Mary's cruelty. She was holding Clarissa tightly as she
relived the difficult moments where she had unintentionally killed
innocents, desperate to sate her hunger. She rememberedholding the
trembling body as the incidents came and gone, adding up to a
staggering number of kills in the end.
The only way she could reach Clarissa afterwards was to gently
reassure her of her love and that nothing would change that. The
brown eyes had slowly lost that cold, distant look as she'd stared
into them until they just looked at her with wonder. They had held
each other until Jessica had dozed off.
She was human enough to be staggered by the number of people who
had lost their lives at Clarissa's hands. No wonder she found it so
difficult to forgive herself. What would she have done had she been
responsible for the death of thousands of innocents? All she knew
is that she admired Clarissa's strength and will to survive her
ghastly past.
Who would've thought the she would end up where she was now.
Dating a gorgeous vampire with a beautiful but tormented
soul. No one for sure. Not even she herself saw
this in her future.
It was still early and Clarissa would be out for a while still.
Maybe she could take a short nap again until she
returned.

Chapter 19
The man tried hard not to squirm under the quiet gaze of the
woman. He'd known her long enough to know that she was actually
staring right through him at the moment. But still…It made
him very uncomfortable. He also knew if he made any movement that
gave away his discomfort, the sharp blue eyes would zero in on him
until they had probed through every layer of his
being.
"What I am about to tell you, Wolfgang, stays between usfor
now."
Not surprised at all by the grave tone of his supervisor, the
man nodded. He'd known for the past week that there was something
underfoot. The agency was abuzz with tension and
anticipation.
"I will be extremely discreet, Irmgard."
The woman's sharp blue eyes studied him for a while longer. "We
have a rogue element within the Royals. At first we'd suspected a
lower ranking member, but it is known now that Clarissa has been
turned."
Wolfgang had to steel himself not to roll his eyes at the news.
Duh, that's so old news, he thought to himself. He kept his face
impassive when he leaned back in his chair, swirling the drink in
his hand. What an anti-climax. When Irmgard had asked him to meet
her at her house he'd expected a big revelation. But this is a
complete waste of his time.
"That is unexpected. After all the training and scouting I'd
never expect her to join the ranks of Mary. On the contrary, I'd
expected her to want to take revenge instead."
He looked down into his drink to hide the faint smirk on his
face. For a big international agency boasting the four deadliest
vampires in existence, it was disappointing to realize how slow
they were in keeping abreast with information. Mary was always a
step ahead and they haven't even clued in why exactly. When he
looked back at the woman, he found her looking pensively at her own
drink.
"Clarissa is very dangerous and I have no idea how we will be
able to neutralize the threat she poses. If indeed she decides to
join forces with Mary, we will have our work cut out for us." She
looked up suddenly. "I want you on this project and I want you to
organize a team who will keep tabs on Clarissa. I will have to head
the search for Mary myself. The Royals expect me to deliver and I
would hate to disappoint them. Can I count on you?"
He nodded quickly. "Of course, Irmgard. I will start making
calls tonight and assemble the best hunters for this
operation."
"Do not try to engage her, Wolfgang. She will slaughter you all.
Heaven forbid, she already took out a team two nights
ago."
Once again he schooled his face into a mask of
trepidation.
"She did?"
"Yes. The Royals are keeping it under wraps though and only a
few know about it, you included."
Wolfgang's eyes were cool as he took a sip from his
drink.
"Why would she want to join Mary?"
Irmgard sighed deeply.
"Mary is the last living member of the Renegade Council as you
know. Her intentions are vague. She could perhaps aspire to succeed
Mary once the Royals have destroyed her or…or she could just
be craving the thrill of kill. She is after all a blood relation of
Tristan."
Wolfgang carefully filed the information away.
"I find the first a more suitable scenario. She would be a
valuable asset to Mary since she knows the inner workings of the
agency and the Royal hierarchy."
"I fear you are right." She gulped down her drink and came to
her feet. Wolfgang had worked long enough with the woman to know
that their meeting had come to an end. He hastily finished his
drink and rose too.
"I promise I will not let down you down, Irmgard. I will have a
list of the team members on your desk first thing
tomorrow."
She smiled thinly.
"Thank you, Wolfgang. I knew I could count on
you."
Leaving the Stroller mansion, he drove over to his penthouse
flat and immediately fixed himself another drink. Sinking down on
his expensive leather sofa, he reached for the TV remote and
browsed through the channels for a while, before settling on a news
channel. But his mind was not on the news report, instead he was
mulling over what had been discussed during the short meeting he'd
just attended.
It is official now that Clarissa was their rogue element. It was
also clear that the Royals were trying to keep her killings quiet.
But why? Why not just hunt her down and destroy her? What were they
trying to achieve? He took a sip from his drink. Could it be that
the great Royals were scared of losing face within their own ranks
because of their lack in judgment when they allowed the former
renegadeinto their fold?
He sat up straighter. That's it! This could cause a major upset
within the Race. Maybe even lead to a rebellion …one which
could replace the current hierarchy. No wonder they want to keep it
under wraps.
He laughed out loud as heslapped the smooth leather surface of
the sofa. Wow, this could signal the downfall of the
Royals…and perhaps the total annihilation of Lecrac's legacy.
It was good to know that they weren't as untouchable as they'd
thought.
A quick flash on the screen caught his attention and his eyes
were sharp as they followed the sleek lines and curves. A 250
footer wasn't such a bad investment. He'd always wanted a yacht, a
big, flashy babe-magnet. It could become a reality for
him…soon.
He reached for his cellphone and punched in a
number.
"We need to meet."
"I like the sound of that," the voice on the line eagerly said
and hung up.
Wolfgang looked at his wristwatch and grimaced. He didn't even
realize that it was this late already. Damn vampires. They even
have them keep their wacky hours now.
*******************************
The garden was dark as she slowly made her way toward the house.
She made a sharp turn to her right when a soft chuckle
sounded.
"You came."
"I had a few hours to kill."
There was a long silence.
"I have a proposition for you. It will be beneficial to us
both."
The electric blue eyes were so intense, they almost looked
white. A jaw tensed and relaxed.
"Your arrogance knows no bounds."
"Are you not even a little bit curious to hear what I have to
say?"
"No. I don't want anything to do with you and your
kind."
"My kind? No need to get insulting now. Last time I checked we
were both vampires."
The blue eyes narrowed dangerously as a look of pure distaste
crossed the tall vampire's face.
"That's where you're wrong. You and your followers are the
worthless residue left at the bottom of a slimly pond. We are
NOTHING like you. Please don't try to make contact with me again.
It doesn't look good to be seen with you."
Another set of blue eyes hardened.
"I thought you might want to use this opportunity to tip the
scales in your favor for a chance."
"I'm not interested, I said. Goodbye." The tall vampire turned
away.
"Wait…If you're not interested, then why did you come in
the first place?"
The visitor turned back slowly. "If my sources serve me right,
you have enough swords out there vying for your blood. I guess I
just came to see you alive for the last time."
"Many have tried before and none have succeeded," came the
arrogant reply.
"This time, I think you are living on borrowed time. They will
succeed."
"You wish for such an outcome so that you can take my place. Am
I right, Leonara?" The blue eyes were cruel. "Ah… I almost
forgot. You are convinced of my demise because your sorcerer
predicted it. Sorcery is so primitive and has no place in this
century, my dear."
"Good bye, Mary. I believe your bloody reign is soon to come to
an end." A sable eyebrow lifted. "The world will most definitely be
a better place without you in it."
Mary's eyes shone red as she watched the tall brunette walk
away. She felt like tearing something apart, preferablysomeone. Her
eyes burned brighter as they kept on following the other woman
walking away. Just wait, before the end of this century she will
deal with the arrogant bitch. She will make her swallow her
words.
"Do you want us to deal with her, Princess?"
She shook her head, her eyes still on the spot where the other
woman had disappeared to.
"No, Geoff. She's not of importance now." She turned her eyes on
him. "Where is Clarissa?"
Geoff swallowed. "She…she requested more time before she
met with you, Princess."
"How much more time?" Mary's voice was dangerously low and Geoff
was quick to reassure her.
"Until tomorrow."
Mary's flat blue eyes stared at him unblinkingly.
"Let's hope for your sake she shows up tomorrow,
Geoff."
The thin man swallowed hard and nodded nervously. With a quick
twirl, Mary disappeared leaving her right-hand man more than a
little shaken.
