The Corporate Raider part 12

Chapter 12

Alex woke the next morning still holding Taylor in her arms. They had slept in the den on the floor the whole night. She smiled to herself, and then she kissed the girl on the forehead and hugged her closer. Taylor eventually roused from her ecstasy induced sleep and stretched to get the kinks out of her body. She felt a light weight around her waist. Eventually her eyes opened, she yawned and then realized that she was in Alex’s arms and she became nervous about that.

"Good morning." Alex purred in the girl’s sensitive ear.

The girl trembled as a result of the sound and the feel of the woman's warm breath on her ear.

"Good morning, how did you sleep?" Taylor asked, trying to be conversational, although there was a slight tremble in her voice.

"Hmm....very nicely. Quite a way to be lulled to sleep, don’t you think?" Alex asked, as she kissed Taylor’s cheek and neck. Taylor squirmed, and gave a squeeze to the woman’s arm.

She was trying to show Alex that she enjoyed last night, despite her reservations about what was going to happen in their relationship, now that they both had experienced the feeling of what it meant to reach ecstasy. Of course, Taylor believed Alex was familiar with the sensation from past experiences in her life, especially with the passion that Alex seem to have for something that was supposedly unfamiliar to her. The woman squeezed the girl to her when she felt the girl hugging her wrapped arms, and again kissed her on the neck.

"I think we need to get up and get ready for work, especially if you want me to have a decent proposal for you?" Taylor suggested, not sure what would happen if they laid there any longer.

Alex answered her as she slipped her hand into the open blouse and began caressing one of Taylor's breasts. The girl blushed at the touch, and her breathing started to increase as her heart began beating faster and faster. The woman began kissing on the girl’s neck with intent and purpose, and Taylor realized that Alex was once again getting aroused. When the woman’s fingers touched her nipple, she jumped. She immediately realized what she had done, but she needed to get out of the woman’s arms before she was once again drawn in.

"I think I need to get cleaned up." Taylor said breathlessly, as she rolled to her feet and turned to look at the woman.

She raised an inquisitive brow at Taylor, but allowed her to stand, as she also came to her feet and walked up to the girl. "All right, but we have a few things to talk about ."

"Of...of course." Taylor said, as she turned and headed for the stairs, nervously playing with her hair as she went.

Alex followed her up the stairs, then they split and went to their own rooms. After they had dressed, they skipped breakfast and their workout and headed straight for the office. In the car, Taylor asked the woman what she planned to do about the position. "I think it would be best if I just put it on hold until you finish with this other project. You know my business party is coming up, and I expect for you to have all of this done and presented, so that you will be back in your position and up to date on everything, and every person coming. Is that clear?"

"Yes, but..."

"No buts, if you don’t think you can have all of it done before then, I will not allow you to get involved in it, friend or not. I have companies to run, and I can’t let my right hand get bogged down with one small venture, if it will affect my larger assets." Alex leveled her gaze on Taylor’s wide eyes. The girl nodded her head yes to the nonverbal question.

"Good. Now what’s on my schedule?"

By the time they arrived at the office, Taylor had gone over Alex's schedule with her. Before they got out of the car, the woman pulled the girl to her, and said in a silky voice.

"You still have not given me a good morning kiss."

"Oh..." Taylor uttered, then leaned in and the two kissed for long moments, until the girl brought her hand to the woman’s chest.

The woman allowed the girl to lean back, albeit the girl did so unsteadily. They both allowed their breathing to return to normal, and then Alex unlocked the door and the chauffeur opened the door for the two women. They went into the building and Taylor excused herself to go get the mail. They had decided that she would still help with the mail, on top of working on her project. When Alex arrived in the office, she was a little surprised to find Salina already there.

"Good morning Ma'am."

"Morning, you're here early." The woman said casually.

"Yes Ma'am, I thought I would come in and start on those letters you wanted done by this evening."

"I see, well fine, carry on." Alex said, as she started for her office.

Then she stopped and called over her shoulder. "By the way, I will need you to prepare for an increase in your workload for a while."

"Yes Ma'am." Salina replied, as Alex continued on inside her office.

Taylor arrived an hour later and the Admin Assistant’s mood changed. "Good morning Salina, you're here early." The girl said observantly.

"Morning. Well it looks like you're not the only one who Alex needs things from."

"I didn’t...."

"In fact, she just told me that she was going to give me more things to do, which means that somebody must obviously be failing in their assigned duties." Salina sneered, as she returned to her typing, completely ignoring the girl. Taylor shook her head in disbelief at the young woman’s behavior. She then went into the office and closed the door behind her.

"Here you go." She said, offering half of the mail to Alex.

"Thank you. What took you so long?" The woman asked, conversing as she shifted through the mail in her hand. She took the one she wanted to start with out and put the rest on the table and began opening it.

"Oh, I filled out a requisition for a desk and chair and supplies. I hope you don’t mind?"

"No, I don’t mind, but what type of desk did you get?"

"Just a plain one. It looks somewhat like a high school teacher’s desk. Here, here’s a catalog picture of the set."

Alex stopped what she was doing, and looked at Taylor over her brows. She took the offered catalog and looking over it her nose crinkled in distaste. "What?"

"It looks like a teacher’s..."

"No, I heard what you said, and I see it also, I just find it hard to believe. When is it supposed to be here?"

"Why? It’s a nice practical desk. I was told that it would be here in a few days?"

"Yes, that’s true, but so is my desk."

"Yes! But yours is huge, and it’s expensive. This whole office cost more than my old townhome, and it’s furnishings, plus my car and everything I own, and STILL it would be no where near what this office cost to decorate."

Alex chuckled at her unintended joke."True, but I can’t allow some...well for lack of a better word, gaudy furniture to be placed in here."

"Well you can always give me my own office." Taylor said, with a raise of her brow.

"I don’t think so, I like seeing you. Besides, I don’t think I would want to hold a meeting in your office if that desk is any indication as to how it would be decorated."

"Are you saying I don’t have any taste?"

"No, not at all, I know you do, I’ve seen your decorating abilities. Your townhome was very nice, that’s why I don’t understand why you would order such a...conservative style desk?"

"Because it’s not my money, it’s yours and I didn’t want to be wasteful of something that is not mine."

"Well I appreciate that, but you can’t have that desk."

"Well what do you suggest?" Taylor asked, as she picked up one of the phones on the desk and made a phone call, regarding one of the pieces of mail she was working on.

"I’ll think about it." Alex said, as she went back to working on her pile of mail, and the packages. After they had finished with the mail, Taylor wanted to get started on her project.

"Do you mind if I go and start on my research?"

"No, when will you be back?"

"I’m not sure, depends on what all I have to do."

"Well, I guess I will see you later, good luck." Alex said with a smile.

The girl smiled back brightly and turned to leave, but just as she reached the door, the woman called to her.

"Oh, don’t forget, we have some things to talk about this evening?"

"Oh, right, okay, I will see you later." Taylor replied, without turning around to face the woman.

"See you later then." Alex said, allowing her to go.

"Okay, bye." She opened the door and left.

Alex watched Taylor get on the elevator and once the doors closed she picked up the phone and made a phone call.

Meanwhile Taylor had gone to talk with her friend Marcus,V.P. in Acquisition, about some things she would need his help with. "Mr. Shearer?"

"Yes?"

"Ms. Madison’s Personal Assistant wishes to speak with you for a moment, shall I send her in?"

"Oh, yes, definitely."

The woman then showed Taylor in and closed the door behind her as she left. "Marcus, how are you?"

"Fine, how about yourself?"

"Fine." She answered.

"Come over here." He said, as he pulled her into his arms and gave her a big hug. "It’s been forever since we’ve gotten together to just talk as friends, I’ve missed that."

"I have also, but I have to tell you, this visit is business."

"Oh, what sort?"

"Well...." She started, as she sat down in one of the chairs and motioned for him to do the same. "I know you're working on the Zadria deal?"

"Yes, Alex wants to take it over and I’ve started gathering the information that is needed to make it happen."

"Good, I thought you would."

"Why?"

"Well because I’m taking over the project. Alex has put me completely in charge of this particular deal."

"Why would she do that? She knew I was working on it."

"Oh, well she didn’t tell me that, but Zadria is a close friend of mine and I didn’t want the company taken over."

"Oh, I bet that went over well with Alex?" He said, with an amused gaze.

"No, she didn’t like it at all, matter of fact she really doesn't want me to get involved with this one."

"So why did she let you? Usually when she says "no", that’s it. the conversation ends with those words and any others will lead to embarrassment for the person who continues." The man said, knowing from experience.

"Well, let’s just say, it’s a test." Taylor replied vaguely, not wanting the man to know of her relationship with Alex outside of work. She knew he was a devout Christian.

"Okay, so she’s letting you handle everything with this one?"

"Yes, and I hope I can count on your support and help?"

"Of course, but what is it you want to do?"

"Well I’m not sure yet, that’s why I’ve come to talk to you. I know you’ve probably already done a lot of the financial research, with the help of the accounting, and the budget departments, right?"

"Right."

"Great, so can you give me what you have? Whatever you haven’t covered yet, I will take up and do the research on it. I still want your input, because you know what Alex likes, especially when it comes to a presentation. Do you mind being on my team?"

"I would love to work with you. It’s going to be great working with one of my dear friends!" He exclaimed. "Let me get you the files."

Taylor grinned at the response from her friend, and knew that they would make a good team. She spent a few hours with Marcus, and then left to go and speak with some of the others she wanted on her team. By the time she had met with all of them personally, most of the day was gone. It was nearing quitting time for most people, so she headed back to Alex's office to organize the files she had gathered on the Zadria deal. When she made it back to the office after stopping by the mail room to collect mail, she saw Salina slamming folders on her desk.

"What’s going on?" She asked cautiously.

"Oh, so the little bedwarmer has returned?" Salina sneered.

Taylor was stunned by the statement. "I...I don’t know what your talking about."

"Liar!! I knew you had to be sleeping with her for her to have made you her Personal Assistant!" The woman accused, as she stormed over to the girl.

"I am not lying, you don’t know what your talking about!" Taylor shot back, as she headed for the door of the inner office. But the young woman cut her off and stood in front of the door.

"Then how do you explain it?"

"Explain what?"

"Everything, including this latest thing?"

"She and I have already told you what was happening, and why she made me her Personal Assistant, and what latest thing?"

"Oh, right, like you don’t know?" Salina said, as she threw open the door to the inner office and stormed inside. With raging eyes she glared at the girl, then looked off to the right and scowled.

Taylor walked in cautiously as she watched the woman. She kept her eyes on the young woman as she spared a glance around the office. What she saw caused her to gasp. Her eyes quickly raked over the area of the office that now had a desk just like Alex’s, only smaller, and without some of the amenities of hers. The desk also had all of the needed things like a multi line phone, with video capability, a computer with all the amenities just like Alex’s, pens, note pads, staplers, and all of the other things, necessary to be efficient. Taylor stared, looking back and forth in complete disbelief at the setup. Finally the silence was broken.

"Oh...don’t act like you're surprised, I know you had to know about this. I also know your sleeping with her! But let me tell you something right now, and I suggest you take me serious, you either get out of whatever is happening between the two of you, or I will tell all of your dear friends about your relationship with her. As well as this whole company, and I don’t care if it’s true or not, I’ll make it believable. I’ll also let the church you go to know about it. I want to get into that Executive Program, and you're in my way, so you better do something to get out of my way before you get burned." Salina sneered, as she then stormed past the girl, bumping her out of her way as she went out the door.

Taylor steadied herself, and then heard the door of the office slam shut and she looked back quickly at it. Shock ran through her mind, along with fear. Now she was even more confused. She didn’t know whether her relationship with Alex was worth all of the possible trouble. Especially considering how her own grandmother felt, not really happy with the relationship in the first place. For her friends to find out about her and a woman being in a relationship; her fear of being shunned was a little overwhelming for her. But when she looked at the desk and everything upon it, her heart filled with the love she felt for Alex, and she really wondered whether she could walk away from that. Salina had gone back to her desk and was now angrily flipping through some of the files she had taken out. Taylor turned and hit the automatic blind closure button and was left to react without prying eyes. She walked over to the desk and looked over once again in awe. She then put the mail and her files down on it, and reached out to touch the table tentatively. Once her hand had touched it, she glided both hands over it, and sighed. Then she went around to the large, leather chair, and did the same thing, as she put her face against it. She slid into the chair and melted into it as if she were a baby in her mother's arms.

"Awww...wow." Taylor slipped her shoes off and curled her feet up in the chair. She leaned back easily. "Mmmm...." sighing again, as she closed her eyes and just let herself forget everything for that moment, she relaxed and drifted off in the chair.

"Well...what do we have here?" Came a soft voice right next to Taylor's ear, which brought her to consciousness once again.

"OH!! I’m sorry, I must have..."

"Fallen asleep?" Alex inserted, as she raised a brow at her and stood up straight.

"I’m sorry, it’s just that I came back to organize some things I thought I would get done before it was too late." Taylor looked down at her watch and saw that she had only been asleep for 15 minutes. She let out a sigh of relief. Then she continued. "I got off the elevator and I saw Salina was upset about something. Next thing I know she’s yelling at me, and making accusations, and things."

The woman’s brows furrowed and then she asked tightly. "What sort of accusations?"

"She was saying that I must be sleeping with you for you to be doing all of the things you had done for me. Speaking of which, I love this!! Thank you!"

Alex smiled, glanced at her watch, and made an executive decision based on the time. "You're welcome, and I wish Salina was right in her accusation, although progress is being made." She said, with a questioning brow.

"Ye...yes of course." Taylor stammered.

"Hmm....well I’m pleased you like the chair and desk." The woman said, noticing something in the girl's voice and behavior. She went to turn away and head over to her own desk, but the girl’s voice stopped her.

"I..." Taylor started, as she jumped to her feet and went to stand by the woman. Alex turned around, and the girl gave a shy smile, then glanced at the windows of the office to make sure they still had privacy. She suddenly wrapped her arms around Alex's neck and in a low whispered voice she said. "I like them very much, but I love you. Thank you." She tilted her head upwards and the woman gazed at her for a moment, then said in a satiny voice.

"Just this one time." As she leaned down and kissed the young girl passionately.

When the kiss finally broke, Taylor leaned heavily against Alex to steady herself, which caused Alex to smirk. She hugged the girl to her, and the girl squeezed her back. "Okay, we need to get back to work so we can go home...and we'll pick up where we left off." The woman implied.

Taylor leaned out of her embrace and they locked gazes for a few moments. Alex caressed her cheek, then turned and went to sit at her desk. Taylor moved her hair back out of her face and turned and walked pensively back to hers. She picked up half of the mail and handed it to the woman, then she went back over to her own desk and sat down. Alex hit the button to open the blinds and went back to work. Salina had stepped away from her desk before the woman had returned, and she was just returning when the blinds were opened.
