Yesterday was the 4th anniversary of the Academy of Bards. I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone for making it a great site.
First and foremost thanks to Missy. Without the spot she carved out for us, we simply wouldn't exist.
Ruth, Lida and Eileen - you guys make the upkeep and daily updates a piece of cake. Thank you guys sooo very much!
Michelle, J, and Candy - I can't tell ya how much I appreciate the help with the graphics and for indulging my ideas :).
Cadryn - it's so good to know you're our pinch hitter and willing to help out in a the way, are you busy this weekend? <g>
Phil - oh great and wondrous Oz™ what can I say that hasn't been said about you already? Stuff that can be printed anyway? :) You keep my life interesting and you've become a great pal. Thanks for the brilliant bard challenges and doing the Academy Marketplace. Because of your willingness to do that, we've helped out some charities and that just is a great thing to do.
And to the readers - we wouldn't be here without you. I think we are just starting to reach our stride. In fact, tomorrow, we are going to open a new section of the Academy as our thanks to you!

Once the month is over, the image is no longer available for sale.

EsmeralDAR is cute, KERRYbus is cuter but QuasiCHINO...oh my my...she is the cutest of all.

Victor Hugo may have created them but Lucia made them adorable.  Eat your heart out Disney.  <.bg.>

If you would to feed the artist (and I hope you do),

Swollen Buds Mark Fourth Anniversary with New Set of Awards Just in time to distract you from dutifully filling out your tax forms -- and to mark the fourth anniversary of their inception ... we are pleased to announce the Swollen Bud Awards of March 15, 2004! It's taken awhile -- real life, aging, and our own writing has made slow readers of us -- but we've still got a half dozen gems to bring to your attention. Check them out at <>.
The tales being honored this time around include works by Blayne Cooper and T Novan, Roselle Graskey, KG MacGregor, Mary Morgan, Meghan O'Brien, and Temora.
Swollen Bud Awards are announced whenever exceptional fan fiction comes to the attention of the group of dedicated fan fiction readers who comprise the Swollen Buds Committee. Stories do not compete with each other for recognition, but against a standard of writing excellence. Accordingly, awards may be presented to more than one story in a category or not presented in every category every time. X:WP Fan fiction of all types (alternative, general, traditional, and/or uber AND ranging in explicitness from G and PG to NC-17) is eligible. (The provocative names of the awards program and of its categories were chosen for the purpose of catching readers' attention, not to signal graphic content. <g>) Whatever their nature, stories are NOT considered for awards until they have been COMPLETED.
Finally, after you check out the winners and enjoy them, FEED THE
The Swollen Buds Committee

Allies by Erning Whiting [original/unfinished]
In the wake of a global biological war, the Foundation for Law and Morality has seized control of the United States government. Having sprung from other historical and crusading organizations, such as the Moral Majority and the Traditional Values Coalition, the Communist-hunters of HUAC, the witch-hunters of Salem, and the power-hungry Church of the Spanish Inquisition, the Foundation is yet another generation of fundamentalist religious organizations which aspires to impose their narrow-minded and ecclesiastical beliefs on the rest of the country through force of law and arms. And in this spirit of "preserving traditional and moral values," they are seeking to capture and execute a psychically gifted young woman whom they have branded as an enemy of the State, having charged her with sedition, murder and witchcraft.
"ALLIES" is not only a story of a modern-day witch-hunt; it is also a plausible story of how yet another theocratic government could come to power. Ultimately, it is a story of how a young Wiccan priestess defies those who would deny not only her rights as a free citizen, but all of ours as well.
