This story is not your regular Xena and Gabrielle story, in fact its far from it. I'm interested to know what other's think, so feedback will be more than welcomed."

Reminder

Okay y'all...we are a little more than halfway through the busy month of July.  Pop quiz time.

Yeah, yeah, I know...you didn't study...your dog ate your homework...you are getting ready to go on vacation...
too bad.  C'mon it's only a couple of questions.  Ready?

1) Have you fed some Bards lately?
A) YES
B NO

The correct answer is "A"---YES, YES, YES!

July is Feed the Bards Month at the Academy, whereby y'all try to explode bardic emailboxes all over the world.  You stuff them full of praise for your favorite Bards who have touched you with their wit, wisdom and incredible writing talent.  Thank them for sharing their many skills for free on the internet and/or publishing some incredible stories for you to buy and enjoy forever.

If you answered "B" NO...shame, shame, shame.  BUT...you can fix that right away.  Go feed some bards and when you write them, make sure you CC the Academy at  feedthebards@yahoogroups.com.

If you don't CC us, we can't count it toward the Fan Of The Year Contest.  We count strictly by the CCed emails received via the FTB list.  So please make sure you send us copies.  The fan who feeds the most Bards gets inducted into the Academy Hall Of Fame (and a few nifty prizes too).  Which brings up question #2...

2) Have you nominated your favorite Bards and Stories to be inducted into the 2006 Class of the Hall Of Fame?
A) YES
B) NO

The correct answer is "A"--- YES, YES, YES!

This year we will be adding 5 more Bards and 10 more stories or series of stories to the Academy Hall Of Fame.  All of them picked by YOU the readers.  This is your chance to honor individual bards for an individual story or for a body of work over the years.  Or you can honor a story that touched your life, one that you find yourself going back to reread again and again.

If you answered "B" NO...shame, shame, shame AGAIN.
BUT...you can fix that little problem too.

Send your choice of 5 Bards and 5 stories/series to:
academy_contest@yahoogroups.com <mailto:academy_contest@yahoogroups.com?subject=HOF2006> .
There is only one Roool you need to follow here...
All Bards nominated must have at least one story (any story) housed AT the Academy to be eligible. All Stories/Series nominated must be housed AT the Academy.  The only exception is Missy Good's...because the Academy is housed on her land.  We call that "close enough."  <.g.>

Okay...question 3...if a plane leaves LA at 3pm heading...

What?
I promised only 2 questions?  Oh, okay...nevermind.

You have your assignment...Class dismissed.

Reminder-
The Hall of Fame voting is open until the end of the month. Have you remembered to vote?
Remember the nice note, probably the last many read from her, that LJ Maas sent because she was added?
Remember how happy many were when DJWP finally allowed us to host Seven Days in Pompeii?
Remember what a great surprise that Wordee started showing up again and reposted the fabulous, Truth or Dare?
How about the new, fantastic stories posted in 2006?
I would name names but I think - based on voting- a lot of you remember them too :)

Support your favorite writer and/or stories.....Remember to send your vote to academy_contest@yahoogroups.com

Hi Steph

My film Futile Attraction is next screening at the Microcinema Fest in Chicago. It screens on Friday August 11th. Only 8 feature films were accepted so it feels like quite an honour. I don't know anyone in Chicago but, as a screening filmmaker, have double pass to the entire festival. Your readers always seem interested in the film and I figure you probably have plenty of readers in Chicago. As a kind of thank you for all the traffic you've sent to my site, would you like the passes as a giveaway? If you put a blurb on your latest news or something getting any Chicago residents to e-mail me, the first one who does can have the passes. I also still have some dvds left for sale at $12.95 for anyone else who wants them.More information on the screening and festival is at http://www.microcinemafest.com Thanks
Mark

What's hot, wet and rewarding?

July's Feed The Bards Month, of course. <.eg.>

Annually, we ask that you rabid readers go on a feeding frenzy and stuff those Bardie mailboxes until they burst. Let the folks who continue to write and share their talents with you know how much you appreciate it. We ask that when you send your emails to the individual Bards, you CC us at feedthebards@yahoogroups.com The person who feeds the most Bards, in July, will get a personalized prize designed by the world famous Academy Artists and be named FAN OF THE YEAR.

How cool is that?

In addition, July is also Hall of Fame month. This is the 2nd year we will be letting everyone vote for the newest members to the Academy Hall. We ask that you vote for your top 5 Bards and your top 5 stories or series. Please review the previous winners here:
http://www.academyofbards.org/halloffame/

The only criteria is that the Bards and Stories nominated must be hosted at the Academy. The Bard must have at least one story (any story) posted at the Academy. The nominated Stories must be housed at the Academy.

Now before you start pointing out the glaring oversight, as some folks called it last year. <.g.> Let me clarify something. Missy Good is the Academy's Landlord. Therefore she houses us, not the other way around.

However, a house is a house. So this year, we will accept nominations of her stories.

Which Bards tickle your fancy, drive you to dramatic distraction, or consistently keep you up all night reading their latest offerings? Which stories are so well written you go back to reread them again and again even though they are engraved in your memory forever? Now is the time to honor them. We will take all your votes and tally them up.

The top 5 Bards and top 10 Stories will be our inductions for 2006. The Academy Munchkins will also honor a Bard with a Lifetime Achievement Award as well. But you won't find out who that is until the end of the month. Neener, neener, neener.

These Bards and Stories will receive a special banner on their pages indicating they are the your Hall Of Fame choices, as well as listing on the Hall Of Fame main page. In addition, the Academy will be sending each Bard a special personalized item to commemorate their induction. A Bard will only be inducted once, however, they may have multiple Stories inducted (in future years as the voting merits). The voting period will run until July 28th. Then we will count up your selections and announce the new Hall Of Fame members. Please list your choices (5 Bards/5 Stories) in a single email and send it here: academy_contest@yahoogroups.com . The Academy of Bards Staff would like to once again express their deep appreciation to all the Bards who continue to share their talents and provide entertainment and, in some cases, enlightenment to readers everywhere. Now...go read, go feed :o)

OZ
One more thing...please send in your votes for the Hall of Fame only once. Steph knows EVERYONE and EVERYTHING and if you try to pull something sneaky...let's just say...it won't be pretty. ;o)
