Announcement from Kim Pritekel
Hello, all. Well,it looks like the Xenavrse has done it again! As the auction is winding down - ends Saturday - as of right now, between donations and what the auction is at right now, I have more than enough for my eye surgery. I had my consultation Monday, and the doctor feels he can do wonders. Right now my world is like looking through a shower door on my right eye, but he feels he can get me to around 20/40 - 20/50. That is an absolute miracle for me, considering legally blind is 20/100, and I've been far beyond that since birth. The surgery has been scheduled for October 28, and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness and consideration is truly touching.

Kim

Special Announcement From L-Book:
"Literature in Motion" will take place October 11th 4:30 p.m. in Hollywood, California, at the Stella Adler Theatre on Hollywood Blvd.
"Literature in Motion" is a concept created and adapted by playwright Dee Jae Cox to bring lesbian literature to the stage in an abbreviated format. It is an adaptation of selected excerpts from three novels that tell the arc of their individual stories, while weaving together the threads of an underlying theme that creates a comprehensive stage piece.
L-Book ePublisher is very proud that Backwards to Oregon by Jae is one of three novels adapted into a stage play by Dee Jae Cox. Also selected were The Lady and the Sea Captain by Vada Foster and Worth Every Step by KG MacGregor . I want to congratulate all three authors, not just for the fabulous books they wrote but also for having their works selected for "Literature in Motion." This is such a great tribute to their writing skills and storytelling. I felt all our Academy members should know of the tribute to these three authors who started on The Royal Academy of Bards. Everyone, especially in Southern California, should come to the event to help support these three wonderful authors.
Go to http://L-Book.com for the full "Literature in Motion" poster, with pictures of the actors that will be playing our favorite characters.
"Literature in Motion" is part of a 3-day event, the second annual 20% New Works Festival (20% being the percentage of women employed in theater). October 9 - 11. Check it out. http://www. lawomenstheatreproject.com/ current.htm
The plays are produced and performed by The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Project, a nonprofit organization that is designed to increase opportunities for women in the performing arts, as well as providing educational opportunities and performances that represent women on a broader scale. Help support this wonderful organization and our own three authors who started here on the Academy of Bards .
Congratulations to Jae, Vada and KG.

Announcement from Kim Pritekel
Hello, all. An update for you: the auction should be going up soon. MaryD is being kind enough to host it on Ausxip.com, but there have been a few technical difficulties with the techno geek stuff, which I don't understand in any way, shape or form. But, I'll let you all know when we're up and running. Got some great stuff, do the amazing generosity of you fine folks.

Also - speaking of generosity of you fine folks - with your money donations, I've been able to get the ball rolling. I have a cataract consultation with the surgeon on September 28, so he can measure my eye and all the other torturous stuff he has planned.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! !

From Kim Pritekel:
This message is for all published authors or fandom art arists: I NEED YOUR HELP!

I was born with severe eye problems, including cataracts in both eyes. I had cataract surgery at 15 to remove the one in my left eye, as I'd gone blind, but the right one was still holding on. Well, now the right one has come to a dangerous level. I went to my glaucoma specialist yesterday to get it looked at, as I knew something was very wrong. Before, where it was blurry, now it's like looking through yellow gauze.

I went to see the doc in May, and things were stable. In four months, the cataract has significantly grown, as well as it's now sealing my pupil to the lense, and if the seal completes, I face complete, irreversible blindness. I need to have this cataract removed NOW.

I don't have the $4,500 for the surgery, so I am wanting to do a fundraiser, by auctioning signed books and artworks by various authors and artists in the Xenaverse or any other fandom.

Please contact me at: writerkimak@yahoo.com if you're willing to donate.

Thank you!
