Announcement
-from Annette Flores - Academy reader

Dear Friends;
I am writing to let you know about an exciting adventure I am embarking on and to ask for your support through a donation for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Beginning June 3, 2007, two thousand participants and I will be biking 545 miles, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to help end AIDS.
I personally decided to undertake this challenge because of my brother Christopher. Chris passed away from AIDS on Thanksgiving Day 1994. This year I decided I could no longer sit by; I had to try and do something to help others who are fighting this disease and for those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one. To this end, I have pledged to raise $5,000 for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation by riding 545 miles for those who can't.
Your generous donation will help me achieve my goal by raising much needed funds for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, which is a non-profit, community-based organization that is committed to ending the pandemic and the human suffering caused by HIV. The agency provides a comprehensive array of services—including financial benefits counseling, client advocacy, housing assistance, HIV prevention efforts, needle exchange, and the California AIDS Hotline (800-367-AIDS)—that directly serves over 100,000 individuals. The agency reaches over 1.5 million others through community outreach, public policy efforts, prevention campaigns, and the Web.
So who will benefit from this AIDS ride? Well in my opinion we all do. Based on statistics from the Department of Health and Human Services an estimated 1.039 million to 1.185 million HIV-Positive individuals live in the United States. Many (252,000 – 315,000 people) are unaware they are infected and are not being treated. Additionally of the 225,000 who do know they are HIV positive are unable to get the care they need. Unless we stand together to fight this pandemic these numbers will continue to grow. Remember HIV/AIDS does not discriminate.
I have already started training for my ride and let me tell you this isn't easy. It is an incredibly emotional and physically tiring time for me; however, every step of the way, from signing up, to training, to writing this letter reminds me of my brother Chris and I gather strength from that and I go on. This is so important not just to me, but to all of us. We must work together to end this terrible disease.
To donate, and/or leave messages of support you can go to my website at http://www.aidslifecycle.org/5175
Thank you,
Annette Flores
ALC Participant # 5175.

While our bards are still toiling away writing their Bard Challenge #16-Solstice from A to Xe stories, we thought we would give you readers a chance to play as well. Evil J came up with a killer Pun Graphic Contest.
I helped a little but it's all her fault...I swear...she just ran amuck laughing maniacally as she created.

Go here...PUNzle

You'll find all the directions on how to play and where to send your answers. The winner will get some nifty prizes. Good Luck. Deadline for the Graphic Contest entries is December 18th.
