Just when Gabrielle decides to seek out Xena, a warlord surfaces near the Macedonia Amazon Nation and threatens to spoil the subtle peace between the Amazons and Centaurs.

Badges and Needles by Warrior Angel [alt/über/unfnished]
I had the first version of this story removed because I got an offer from a very generous person who has been more than a beta to me. She has listened to my muses and helped me to understand their ways as any great teacher would.  Lots of action and emotional struggle working as the perfect backdrop for a love story.

The Blues by Larissa [alt/original/complete]
summary pending

Announcement
-from KG MacGregor

Remember the Shaken series? The first story, Without Warning, was published by Bella Books last January, and the second, Aftershock, is due out next month. In the old days, I dreamed my uber-Xena stories would be made into movies starring our heroines, but that prospect is looking pretty grim these days. What's looking good, though, is Anna & Lily on the stage in Hollywood, brought to you by longtime Xena...er, make that Gabrielle fan Deejae Cox, the executive director of the Los Angeles Women's Theatre Project!

On Sunday, September 7th, the LAWTP is staging an excerpt from Aftershock, along with selections from authors Lisa Girolami & Gabrielle Goldsby, as part of its 20% New Works Festival. Lisa & I will be onhand at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood (4 p.m.) for a Q&A and book signing, and we would love to see your smiling faces there. No, they weren't able to land Lucy or Renee for the parts, but if you'll head over to www.kgmacgregor.com, look on the Events page and you'll see the two actresses who will bring Anna & Lily to life.

Xena fans can also catch Robert Trebor (Salmoneus) on stage at the Festival. Hope to see you there!

-from Blue Feather Books

We are pleased to announce that Kelly Sinclair has joined Blue Feather Books. Her book, Ghost Town, is scheduled for release in early 2009.

Kelly Sinclair lives in Temple, Texas, but is a transplant from the South Plains. She has been a reporter, a rock singer-songwriter, and is currently a librarian. A poem of hers has appeared in the Texas Observer political magazine, and her computer-derived prints are featured in art galleries.

Sinclair has worked with an experimental art-rock ensemble, written country songs for such Texas acts as the Maines Brothers, and sung backup for funk bands and bluegrass performers. In her writing, she follows a similar path of exploring her creative boundaries, writing scripts, plays, and musical song-cycles.

Ghost Town

It's the summer of 1989, and in the small Texas town of Tantona, to
be openly gay is to be notorious. But three closeted women are
about to shake things up.

Mandy, a young reporter, is hung up on God and women. Librarian Tina is eager to ditch old personal dramas, and rocker Cat is struggling to get her band off the ground. Unanticipated connections bring the women together... and then there's Sherron, a reckless blonde who becomes the talk of the town.

When secrets come doused in Texas barbecue sauce, all the ingredients are present for a surprising and spicy mix.

Look for Ghost Town in early 2009!

- From Kate Sweeney

Diane Bauden and I will be doing a book signing/reading this Friday. I put it on the calendar, and I hope I did it right, being the computer nitwit that I am. If not, we'll be at Women and Children First in Chicago on Friday night, Aug 29th at 7:30.. If anyone is in the Chicago area, please stop by. We'd love to see you.

Wooohooo!  I'm really honored that the fans have chosen me this year.  I've been 'out of the loop' lately due to my real life job, but will have a new book out shortly so it's great to know the fans still have me in their thoughts.  Okay...so they have my characters in their thoughts...but it really means a lot to me to have this honor.  A big "Thank You!" to the Royal Academy of Bards and everyone who voted me into the Hall of Fame!

Whoa!
I've gotta tell ya, I'm overwhelmed. I was scrolling through the inductee list and saw several favorites, then I stumbled across my name, too. Just wanted to drop a note and say thanks to the readers and fans - especially those who continue to feed the bards by sending feedback. If you (the readers) don't write, we (the bards) don't know if we should continue on. (then again, that doesn't seem to slow some of us down, at all, does it?). Seriously, though, I'm honored to be inducted into the hall of fame. And, thank you again to the readers and the Academy. You rock!

WOW!! How cool is that?!?

OZ assures me it is pretty dang cool, and I'm inclined to agree with her. :-)

Many thanks to the readers who continue read and feed this particular bard and for taking the time to once again vote one of my stories into the Academy Hall of Fame. It is very gratifying to know folks find as much enjoyment in their reading as I do in the writing.

Special thanks to the Academy - Boss, OZ, and Munchkins - for creating the Hall of Fame and tirelessly posting my stuff despite all the funky formatting I send to them. There's a reason they refer to me as a PITA DIVA. <g> Their efforts are much appreciated and I'm glad they continue to host so many great bards and stories.

Thanks, ya'll!!

While recovering from surgery, Jordan finds the diaries of Maggie Downs, a woman who died in an accident strangely similar to Jordan's own, but more than one hundred years ago.

Maggie begins to haunt Jordan's dreams, and Jordan becomes convinced that she is trying to contact her. Can love bridge the barriers of death and time? Jordan is determined to find out.

Announcement
-from The Academy of Bards as spoken by Oz

As everyone knows, July is Feed The Bards Month. To tie in with our HOF awards we also award the Fan Of The Year Award to the person who feeds the most Bards.  This year it was really, really close.  There were three fans who went above and beyond and stuffed those Bardie mailboxes full.  But we can only have one winner.
This year's Fan Of The Year goes to:
Sandy Serf  March231994802@aol.com

<.Bravo.> ...OUTSTANDING!

Miss Widget and Kazia also get a round of applause.  Y'all were soooooooooooo close.

Onward to the HOF...

The readers have spoken and determined the inductees for 2008.
Please welcome to the Academy Hall of Fame (in alphabetical order) :
Sue Beck
Fingersmith
Trish Kocialski
Larisa
and
Del Robertson

The readers have had their say and now I have something to say...Oh Larisa?  We (the Academy) want the rest of your stories. Yep, we want them all.  Every last one of them. Please?

The readers have also chosen the stories and thanks to a couple of ties...we will be inducting fifteen stories this year instead of ten.

The tope vote-getter was:
Amazon Queens Don't Fall In Love by Del Robertson

Congratulations to Del for being inducted into the HOF and also having the top story. But if that wasn't enough...check out the rest of the list (alphabetically) and the authors. <.g.>

7 Days In Pompeii by DJWP
Aftermath by D---this is D's fourth story inducted, she is #1
The Birdie Series by Onesockbard
The Erin/Jamie Series by Colleen
Extended Intentions by Jynaki---this is the sequel to last's year's story inductee
Fate by Kaia
The Island of Belleza by Cam Taylor
Malicious Pursuit by KG MacGregor
Pretium Silenti by Spyrel
The Ramses/Sarah Series by Ali Vali---this is Ali's third series inducted
Something So Close To Love by Artemis Callaghan
The Cloak by BL Miller
Through the Eyes Series by Del Robertson
and
Walking Around In Warrior's Underwear by Del Robertson

While we have had other Bards with three stories inducted this is the first time that all three were chosen in the same year.  WHOA!

Now...every year the Academy chooses a special person and presents the Academy Lifetime Achievement Award to them.  This year, I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said about this particular author.
Yes I do...
She's evil...Yes EVIL. <.g.>
Her online stories have been responsible for the death of countless trees, as folks print them out.  The woman has bazillions of pages of stories online.  Then she goes and publishes and more trees bite the big one.   She writes classic X&G, she writes uber/originals, she writes Conqueror...she writes real XWP episodes and virtual season ones...and she writes OFTEN.  She also will cheerfully write her name on anything you put in front of her.  Somewhere along the line she manages to find time to work and play and show up at all kinds of gatherings.

Y'know what...I'm guessing she's is an alien. Or maybe a twin...actually to do everything she does...she's a trip...I mean must be a triplet. <.g.>

All kidding aside...what Missy Good is actually is ONE OF A KIND. And the 'Verse is an incredible place because of her.  Don't believe me...just ask any of the 3000 pups. <.g.>

The Academy is proud to present the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award to
Melissa Good.
