Contest Announcement-

Well, the BC#11 entries are now up. I have to say, this one has been a real challenge and a disappointment.

No, not of the entries turned in...those are incredible as always. I sincerely thank the bards who participated.

Y'all ROCK!

No, rather, the disappointment was because of the ones not turned in.

This challenge had an overall purpose...which is why we limited the entries to a total of 25 participants. However, when less than half of the characters, that were chosen, returned as entries...it threw the entire challenge out of whack. Because the characters were exclusively assigned, they were unavailable to another bard to write...so, argo...I mean...ergo...those characters were completely lost to this challenge.

At one point the discussion was for canceling the challenge. But I couldn't do that to the Bards who took the time to create their stories. So...although there will not be an overall wrap up, as previously planned (the quote from that particular writer being "I don't have enough to work with here"), we will still have the competition.

Unfortunately, the overall theme will remain unwritten (and unknown). However, if you ask me nicely, I may tell you. ;o)

There are two categories...those attending BardCon and those unable to attend. You can vote for one in each category, there will be a winner from each category.
The only difference in the prize packet is that the attending BardCon bard gets a Disney 1-Day Park Pass along with the other goodies.

The winners will be announced at BardCon and then online.

As always, I would like to thank the participating bards.
YOU ALL ROCK!

I need to make a couple of special mentions here, although I can't tell you which 2 bards this involves...yet <bg.>...
1) One of our bards lost their story due to a computer crash. Disheartened but undaunted, they went back and recreated it just for the challenge (and in record time too). Above and Beyond.
AND
2) One of our bards took on the challenge late...they stepped in at the last minute because they knew we were short on entries. From the character assignment to completed entry was 4 days.
Incredible.

I would also like to thank the BardCon folks for their assistance with the Challenge. A big thank you to Steph and the Munchkins, for your patience and understanding here by putting up with my stubborn nature. Although, Steph will probably tell you that she is used to it by now.

Okay, now with all that said:
go here...http://www.academyofbards.org/contest/2004/bardcon

Read the entries and vote for your favorites. And please, please, feed the bards when the contest is over. These folks shared their creativity...let them know you appreciate it.

The voting period will run until May 16th. Winners will be announced at BardCon on May 29th.

Review

Added a new review on Judith's Just like Buttah page
Something I Said by Denic

http://www.academyofbards.org//fanfic/d/denic_somethingisaid1.html
Absopositootly, undeniably, by Gab's abs, star spangled good reading!
What a delightful story.
Connor, a young women afflicted with Tourette's Syndrome has a very difficult time in life. Often picked on by those who don't understand her situation. On one such occasion she is rescued by a lovely women we later learn is named Ellison.
The road to friendship for these two loveably imperfect, insecure individuals is perilous and very rocky, and filled with very colorful language, thanks to Connor's Tourette's and Ellison's flair for cursing.
I loved every foul-mouthed, tears falling, mushy moment.
Refreshing and original.
Denic gives us a real relationship, with real getting to know you, getting to know all about you, growing pains. We also get to know an older character, Elmer is a sweetie. I really appreciated the older friend character. A nicely unique supporting character. Connor and Elmer's friendship is heartwarming and beautiful.
The travails these three oh so likable characters go through in "Something I Said" by Denic are comical, yes, but with a side of real humanity that makes us care. Very well done on Denic's part to make that work.
"Something I Said" is a well rounded story. Good beginning, the middle never sags and the ending is satisfying.
A big thank you from this reader, for no long drawn out, over done sex scenes. So painfully repetitious in Xenaverse fan-fic.
This story is a bright, particular gem. I was simply swept up and carried away.
One of the best stories I have ever read in the Xenaverse.
And that's no shit!!!!
There are some typos in the last chapters that need to be cleaned up, but other than that, precious, yes, simply precious!
Feed the Bard...don't make me cuss you<G> I learned some doozies recently.
